Parenting is hardwork!!

By Christina Litman on Apr 08, 2011 at 12:00 AM in Parenting

Wouldn't it be nice if we all could learn from the mistakes of our parent's and not do one thing like them in our own parenting?

I am learning how to parent on a daily basis in a way that feels best for me and my family.  I don't do this perfectly all the time.  Darn it!!  I expect that you know.  I said I would never treat my kids the way I have been treated by my parents.  Ooops!!  I blew that promise to myself.

However, from this I am learning self forgiveness and empathy for my own heart as well as for my childrens.  I can make my amends to my kids for losing my temper and being "mean".  I can release my own guilt when I do it wrong.

This is how we learn and grow as a family.  It has been really a relief to know that I am not perfect and I am not always going to do my best.  However, I do repair my mistakes and hopefully my children are learning to have compassion for me as well. This will help them to have a few more skills than I had coming into the parenting game with their own kids.

To my future grandchildren, your parents are human and make mistakes, but they love you deeply, empathically and compassionately.  For this I have made sure!!
